Thank you for visiting our page, we are the McCaw family.
Andrea and Craig have 3 amazing adult children. Our oldest daughter Jessica and her partner Ryan, our son Caleb and his wife Chelsea and our youngest daughter Caylee. We all live on beautiful Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada and acknowledge that we live on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. We are so grateful to live, work and play on this beautiful land and we commit to taking care of this land for future generations by practicing the leave no trace principles and being mindful of our impact on the earth. We love living on the west coast of Canada, and enjoy exploring the outdoors.
Our youngest daughter Caylee is autistic and mostly non-verbal. We are very passionate about giving her as many experiences we can. Autism affects how Caylee communicates, lives and experiences the world around her. Sometimes it can be really challenging for Caylee to regulate her emotions and she can be overwhelmed easily. We have to be flexible and supportive to help her manage a situation, and to care for her. Caylee inspires and teaches us every day. She is our guide in this beautiful life journey.
We started this website to share a bit about our experiences travelling with our autistic daughter. We love to camp in our RV, find back road adventures in our Jeep Wrangler, water adventures in our boat, travel to other countries, geocaching, and just living the West Coast lifestyle as best as we can, with a little diversity mixed in.
We are excited that you will find a bit of inspiration, learn something new about Autism, and how we navigate the hurdles that come with it. We are authentic, positive and honest.
Adventure is all around us, get outside and explore !
